The Sony Xperia Z4 hasn’t been showcased in the recently gone Mobile World Congress 2015. Even though there has been a Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, there was no Xperia Z4 smartphone. There are even more disappointing rumors we have in stock, like Sony is exiting the smartphone market without taking the smartphone production line any further.
We don’t know how legitimate this rumor actually is, one thing we can say for sure the Sony Xperia Z4 is not popping up very soon. Instead, it probably have delayed to September 2015, the IFA event where Sony usually showcase their second flagship smartphone of the year. This year, they are opting for one flagship each year.
Release Date
All other smartphone manufacturers go for the one smartphone per year flagship release pattern. Sony till last year had followed their pattern of two flagship smartphones each year. The last major upgrade was Sony Xperia Z2; the Sony Xperia Z3 was a mere upgrade to that. Now, when is the Sony Xperia Z4 going to make its debut?
According to tech analysts, the Sony Xperia Z4 won’t be seen until the IFA 2015 which is going to take the stage on September 2015 with Galaxy Note 5. Still a long way to go, but if Sony moves out from two flagships per year then it’s definitely a good move. However, we have encountered leaked images of Sony Xperia Z4 all over the internet and most likely you have seen them too! Sony isn’t exiting the smartphone market just yet. Not before the Xperia Z4 comes out at least.
Design
The leaked images have shown a slightly newly designed Sony Xperia smartphone, which is still based on the OmniBalance designing hypothesis. The phone has a 5.5 inch Quad HD display, still not 4K displays like we would expect. This could change in all these months, though, don’t give up your hopes for a 4K display. However, the buttons are placed where they used to be but the headphone jack has been shifted to the bottom instead of the top. There was another port located in the bottom aside from the micro USB; we don’t know what that is yet. The USB and headphone ports are wide open now, no water & dust resistant flaps. This could either mean no IP67 protection this time, or a newer level of safety implementation where the flaps aren’t anymore needed.
The dimensions of the smartphone will be nearly identical to the Sony Xperia Z3; since this size has proven to be the most productive and consumer friendly for the Sony flagship smartphones.
